Don’t Let Your Third Molars Become a Problem!

Wisdom teeth are a third set of adult molars that usually appear in your late teens or early twenties. Getting your wisdom teeth removed is a very common surgery. Most patients need to have wisdom tooth removals in their young adulthood. While a lucky few have the space to accommodate their wisdom teeth, they typically cause problems.

Third molars are almost always poorly positioned. They put excess pressure against the rest of your teeth, causing the teeth to shift and become crowded. They frequently fail to erupt at all and can damage the roots of the other molars or damage the jawbone. At times, they come in only partially, creating a bacteria trap that can lead to gum infections and decay in the neighboring teeth. Even wisdom teeth that don’t cause pain and haven’t pushed through the gums may be causing serious problems that may go unnoticed for years.

As an oral surgeon, Dr. Frank has the experience and advanced expertise to determine whether your wisdom teeth need to be removed and if so, perform your wisdom tooth removals safely and comfortably. Our advanced digital diagnostic equipment will give us a thorough and precise understanding of how your third molars may affect your oral health in the future, or may already be causing problems. Don’t hesitate to contact us for your wisdom tooth evaluation!
